Dovecote Opens for the 2026 Season
Added on 11 May 2026
The Wollaton Village Dovecote Museum officially opened for the new season on Sunday 10 May 2026.
A good-sized crowd gathered in the sunshine with glasses of fizz to listen to the speech given by the Chair of the Wollaton Natural History Society (WNHS), Nigel Downes.
The exhibition this year marks the 50th anniversary of WNHS and coincides with the 100th anniversary of the opening of Wollaton Hall as a natural history museum. It is also the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, which seems very fitting!
Visitors enjoyed looking around the exhibition, which includes a wonderful selection of wildlife photography as well as animal exhibits. It was also an opportunity to see the newly cleared room downstairs and many visitors made use of the extensive family and local history files, guided by Julia King and Janice Richmond from the family research group.
Do not forget we are next open on Sunday 14 June 2026, so please do come and join us then if you missed our seasonal opening.
