The Wollaton Dovecote garden has once again been awarded a Green Flag Community Award, a scheme that has now been running for 30 years.
As before, this achievement is thanks to the dedication and commitment of Wollaton Historical & Conservation Society members who have given their time to mow, weed, plant, water and maintain the garden. We would also like to recognise the valuable support provided by members of the Wollaton Walled Garden Project (WWGP).
The Green Flag judges' comments included praise for the new bench and, for the first time, a particular mention of the "excellent website for the museum and garden".
As last year, one recommendation was to install an information sign outside the dovecote with details about the building and its opening hours. This is now in hand: a new sign has been designed and funding has been applied for.
